This blog is about my work with the Mesoamerica Peace Movement. Mesoamerica, because we cover the countries from Panama to Chiapas, Mexico.
The MPM has two main components: values and principals that are essential for peace building or making, and responding to the material needs of every human being. Values are necessary for peace but we cannot live without food, health, lodging, work, an so on.
I started the MPM in the year 2000. At the present time we have a foundation to provide support to the peacemakers of Mesoamerica, the Foundation for Sustainability and Peacemaking in Mesoamerica that has a 501(c)3. We facilitate workshops to nourish peace and we train people in organic farming, alternative medicine, initiating community stores, and dealing with the environment.
There are about 125 organizations in Mesoamerica that are participating in building peace and we have facilitated workshops to more than 8,000 people. We have facilitated training in food production, alternative medicine, initiating community markets to 120 people. We have also trained about 350 people for facilitating workshops about peace.
